PROJECT OVERVIEW

Music has always been an influential aspect of design for me. With this project, it helped me to reinvigorate my passion when it was lost. In my personal opinion, music and design go hand in hand. It’s a creative process that evokes an emotional response from those that see/hear the project. I've always admired the creative vision behind album covers, which prompted me to create album design covers of the songs I was listening to at the time. This project was originally posted to my Instagram starting in 2017; it’s ongoing with new album covers being added periodically.

ART DIRECTION

This project allowed me to explore a variety of new techniques with the Adobe Creative Suite. When creating these album covers it always started with listening to the selected song and visualizing the lyrics onto a sketchbook page. I wanted my ideas to organically form when listening to the song and be created with minimal outside design elements. When looking at professionally designed album covers, you notice how much typography matters. It can make or break the mood and feel of the entire album cover. With my designs, I wanted there always to be a nice combination of bold typography and intriguing imagery. As I continue this project, I want to focus on hand lettering and typography.
